We teach you exercises and movements to help reduce pelvic pain!
The right movement, at the right time, in the right dosage with the right load has been found to help improve pelvic pain. Determining all of the “right” things you need is where our licensed physical therapists help you. When you have pelvic pain often you have fear of moving or of doing the wrong thing and flaring up your pain. We bring clarity to you so that you can get your life back. Often your movement patterns have adapted in a way that inadvertently worsens your pain. We examine how you move and help correct your posture, muscular imbalances and movement patterns so you have less pain. Today you might feel like your pelvic pain is unpredictable and, therefore, you have reduced your activity levels because you don’t have the energy and you have found that your pain gets worse if you do too much.
When working with our physical therapists our goal will be to help correct your movement patterns, improve your strength and flexibility, calm down your nerves and help you to feel like you can enjoy the things in life that are fun.
If you are at a loss for how you can move and participate in life’s activities because your pelvic pain holds you back, our pelvic physical therapists will customize a progressive pelvic pain therapeutic exercise program and a plan you can implement on your own to get your body able to tolerate day to day activities. Call us at (616) 516-4334 or contact us here to inquire about cost and availability or anything else related to your needs.

One unique form of exercise that we use to alleviate pelvic pain is whole body vibration. This method challenges balance, engages your deep core differently, eases fascia restrictions and helps with pelvic pain.
At Purple Mountain PT one thing we may offer you to help your pelvic pain is completing exercises on our whole body vibration machine. This is a platform you will stand on and perform specific exercises with the watchful guidance of your PT right with you. We use this machine as one method of pain reduction and to retrain your movement patterns, balance, posture and strength. Whole body vibration has been shown to help myofascial pain and we find that many patients, after they finish their supervised exercises on the machine, get off and report less pain. Use of the whole body vibration machine is one of many special interventions we offer at Purple Mountain PT. Patients like it. Our PTs see a dramatic improvement in things like balance and movement capacity following a single session of the whole body vibration machine. For longterm results we tend to use it at multiple appointments in conjunction with hands-on treatments and other therapeutic exercises designed to help your pelvic pain through physical therapy treatments.
Curious about Whole Body Vibration and whether it may help you with your pelvic pain treatment at Purple Mountain PT? One meta-analysis review found it helps chronic pain and that the improvements were long lasting!
“Evidence suggests positive effects of WBVE on chronic musculoskeletal pain, and long durations of WBVE could be especially beneficial.”
-Yulin Dong, Wu Wang, Jiejiao Zheng, Su Chen, Jun Qiao, Xueqiang Wang, Whole Body Vibration Exercise for Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Volume 100, Issue 11, 2019, Pages 2167-2178,
